East African Bee Keeping Project (EABKP).
This is a two-year project started in 2021. Operates in Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan. It is a project in which the AAC’s apiary will be improved and research on the performance of different types of bee hives, 3 students will train at level five in beekeeping, 10 beekeeping groups of 20 members each (200 households) will be trained and supported in bee keeping. It is implemented in Madi Okollo and Zombo districts with 5 bee keeping groups in Madi Okollo and 5 in Zombo district with AAC as the coordinating centre for Uganda, Baraka Agriculture College in Kenya and CEAFoT in Yambio South Sudan.
Project Progress in 2021
10 groups were mobilized and trained in bee keeping. Some safety gears (5 bee suits, 5 pairs of gumboots and 5 smokers) delivered by the Project Manager (Mr Kasisi Cornelius) to the Project Officer (Olwormungu Habil) for training purposes. One motorcycle registration was procured in 2021 to aid transport in this project and smooth-running of the project activities.
