This training was conducted in between 2021/2022 for four weeks which targeted at least 300 students trained in practical hands-on skills in agriculture for sustainable livelihoods within the different enterprises which included the Poultry, Piggery, Goat, Beekeeping and Vegetable enterprise. At the end of the trainings the beneficiaries were awarded Certificates then followed by agricultural start-up inputs.

The Franciscan Brothers Adraa Agriculture College in partnership with GIZ Uganda through its Program – the Response to Increased Demand on Government Services and Creation of Economic Opportunities in Uganda (RISE) has imparted appropriate skills and knowledge to at least 300 refugees and rural Farmers in the Host communities of Arua, Terego, Madi-Okollo, Moyo, Obongi and Adjumani through sustainable Agriculture and Apiculture to improve their livelihoods.

The RISE Program’s main objective was to empower the small holder farmers with practical skills and knowledge to achieve an increased household income, improved household nutrition and sustainable environment upon which other human development interventions depend, while at the same time protecting the environment. While interacting with a beneficiary, she quoted, “I have learnt a lot especially in the Poultry enterprise and I strongly believe I can be one of the lead poultry farmer in west-nile region and am thankful to GIZ and Adraa Agriculture College for empowering us”.
